Friends of Buck Wood (FoBW) was established in March 2004, but changed to a less active group in 2016. The group still acts as a focus for local people from in and around Thackley in Bradford, and other users of the wood. The group worked in partnership with Bradford Council who own Buck Wood.
There is still a working Group, the Buck Woodies

And there are occasional additions to the website from former members who continue to research and record Buck Wood. Most of these will be found by skimming through the drop-down menus at the top. Have a look and see what’s there!
There is another website which includes articles about Buck Wood and its history:
www.thackleyandidlehistoryfiles.org
It is written by local historians who hope you will find something enjoyable or unusual to read there.
Friends of Buck Wood took an active role in the care of the woodland. We surveyed the wildlife of the woodland, recording and photographing animals, birds, butterflies and moths, flowers, fungi, and trees – not to mention the changing seasons in this very beautiful woodland, and anything else that looked interesting.
FoBW produced leaflets about Buck Wood, to inform people about the history of the area, and to promote the wood as a place for others to visit. Some copies of most leaflets are still available – see the Contacts page for how to contact us via Bradford Council.
